CTC vs Gross Salary vs In-Hand Salary

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total annual cost an employer incurs for an employee. It can include salary components as well as employer contributions such as employer provident fund and gratuity.

Gross salary is the salary amount before employee deductions such as EPF and income tax.

In-hand salary is the amount you actually receive after applicable deductions. This is why your monthly take-home salary can be significantly lower than your annual CTC divided by 12.
